Secrets of Influence® for Professionals
The new business environment and the changing nature of organization cultures have created new challenges and demands for the manager, the entrepreneur, the technical professional, the salesperson, and the staff employee.
Dynamic organizational structures, competitive enterprises in the marketplace and the multiple roles an individual often has within an organization all highlight the need to communicate across departmental, functional and organizational structural lines.
A recent article in the Harvard Business Review by Rebecca Knight, How to Increase Your Influence at Work states :
“To be effective in organizations today, you must be able to influence people. Your title alone isn’t always enough to sway others, nor do you always have a formal position”
The demands on the “communicator/influencer” of today’s organizations are:
- Having to work with and through others with whom there are often no clear reporting relationships
- More responsibility than authority
- Fluid and dynamic departmental goals and structures
At the end of our time together, you will have gained:
- Awareness of influence as a key issue for success
- Insight of your Personal Influence Profile
- Knowledge of Influence Theory
- Ideas for applying influence strategies
